Jett
March 28, 2024 we unexpectedly said goodbye to our 10 year old German shepherd, Leo. He was our first dog after getting married in 2015 and we rehomed him from a man who didn’t have time to train him. He was our fierce and loyal protector. He was my companion after suffering the loss of my brother in a tragic accident. After he passed, we all felt the void in our house and our hearts. Our other 3 dogs missed their big bro and we had agreed to wait until summer time to think about getting another dog. April 3, 2024 I was browsing the website of Maricopa County Animal Shelter here in Arizona and I immediately stopped on a picture of a cattle dog mix named “Daffy”. I instantly fell in love with his face and saw so many features of a German shepherd and knew he was a special guy. Unfortunately, my husband was not quite ready to go meet him. I hoped and prayed that “Daffy” would still be there by the time he was ready. I checked every day for 3 weeks to see if he had been adopted. His was originally a stray who was brought in back in February who then was adopted for a total of 3 days in March. He was returned because he “kept trying to get into the chicken coop”. Day after day, he continued to be available and actually was unable to be adopted for 2 weeks because he contracted kennel cough. The timing was no coincidence to me. I knew in my soul that this boy was going to be ours. Finally, on Friday April 26th I got an email from the animal shelter of their “Monthly Pupdate” with a featured shelter dog that needs a home…guess who was chosen to be featured out of the 800+ dogs across their 2 shelters!? It was “Daffy”. My husband agreed that it was a sign and we went to meet him the very next day. We fell in love with this oversized 1 year old “puppy” with absolutely no manners hahaha! We brought him home and renamed him Jett. He’s been home with us for a week and to see him run in our backyard with our other dogs brings tears to my eyes. He goes on 2 mile runs every morning with us and our other 7 year old german shepherd, Goose. He plays gently with our 10 month old 6 lb chihuahua, Zero. And he respects the only female dog in our house, Rigby the 8 year old weenie dog. He’s already stepping into his role of protecting our house and yard. We are so happy to be able to give him the best life ever. We have started training him so he can learn some manners and with a bit of time he will be the most incredible adventure dog and companion. We love you Jett and you are the perfect addition to our little wolf pack.
